National Policy Statement on Urban Development 2020

The Government has approved the National Policy Statement on Urban Development 2020 (NPS-UD). It was issued, by notice in the New Zealand Gazette, on 23 July 2020. It will come into effect on 20 August 2020.

In approving the NPS-UD, the National Policy Statement for Urban Development Capacity 2016 will be revoked from the date the NPS-UD comes into effect.

The NPS-UD is the outcome of the decisions made by the Minister for the Environment and the Minister for Urban Development in light of submissions and advice from officials. The Recommendations and Decisions Report is available here
